Sherwina was Sherwin for tail tips that look to have been dipped in paint. But a clear photo of her hemispherical lobe by Deana Glenz on Sept 16, 2017 shows she is a she. She is quite unusual among northeast Pacific humpbacks in alternating between British Columbia and California feeding grounds, which generally support separate humpback populations.
