Fluke of Rory Confirmed in the catalog

Rory @3664

Rory's name is short for rorschach. He or she whale was severely entangled; rescue crews from NOAA and Dana Point spent a full day in October 2015 disentangling crab pots and over 100 feet of rope from its mouth, right pectoral fin and fluke which disabled it from showing its fluke. This whale was first spotted at 9am right outside Newport Harbor and slowly moved down to South Laguna Beach where most of the pots and lines were removed. Other reports reported seeing the same whale in San Diego the following day with small portions or rope still attached. We are so excited to see Rory still alive, re-encountered July 2016 in Monterey Bay, California. This whale is known from research conducted by Cascadia Research Collective and collaborators
